OnePlus Smartphones sports latest flagship chips with higher amount of RAM equipped with latest version of Android running on the top layer of Oxygen OS.

Let's see what needs to be improved to keep it on par with other premium smartphones for this price range.

1.Improvements to Front and Rear Camera

Over the past years, premium smartphones starting from Samsung Galaxy S7 offers Video recording for atleast 1440p Quad HD quality while keeping 4K video recording for Rear Camera. Samsung Galaxy S20 bumps the video recording quality to 4K for front camera and 8K for rear camera. But, OnePlus Phones still opts to 1080p. The maxium video recording quality needs to be improved for both front and rear cameras.

2.Upgrades to RAM modules

OnePlus Phones are still using LPDDR4 RAM Modules instead of latest in the market LPDDR5 which offers better performance and power efficiency.

3.Wireless Charging

Wireless Charging for OnePlus Phones are still in Concept for past few years. OnePlus needs to opt for Wireless Charging Standards while retaining Fast Charging Feature.

4. Increase Battery Capacity

While increasing the display resolution to QHD+ with refresh rate clocked at 120 Hz, it makes a massive overhead in battery life. Oneplus Phones needs to increase the battery capacity to atleast 5000 mAh or more for optimum battery life.

5. Opt for In Display Camera/ Popup Camera

There are no massive changes in design of OnePlus Phones over the last few models. All the Phones comes with Punch Hole Camera instead of Popup Camera. Oneplus Phones may need to have In Display Camera. If the In Display Camera is not ready for use in OnePlus Phones in future, then atleast it is better to opt for Popup Camera which is already available in some of the its predecessors.

6. Increase Storage Capacity

For higher end models such as 12 GB RAM variant needs to have 512 GB storage instead of 256 GB.

7. Support for microSD

Most of the premium smartphones retains support for microSD card as it is very important for users to store massive amount of data for long term use. Oneplus Phones need to extend support for microSD cards in addition to internal storage.

8. Official Certification for IP Ratings

Oneplus Phones lacks IP rating certifications due to cut down the price of the phones as it costs for IP rating certification. But, Oneplus Phones in future needs to have official IP rating certification to comply with IP rating standards as users need to be clear as how the phone stands well with the resistance to level of water and dust.
